Product description

A kaleidoscope of soft pastels and a striking wine-coloured centre. Wine Eyed Jill is one of those varieties that feels alive in the cutting garden. The blooms open in shades ranging from blush pink and cream to soft yellow and wine, giving you colour variation that changes with heat, season, and light. Long, strong stems and abundant blooms make this a favourite for bouquets and market bunches alike.

Form: Ball / Miniature Ball
Bloom size: ~2–4″ across — petite to medium, perfect for abundant cutting beds.
Site: Full sun (at least 8 hours) for best colour expression and stem strength.
Days to maturity: 80 -100 days
Plant spacing: 12–18 in for healthy airflow and stem length.
Pinch: When plants reach ~12 in tall to encourage branching and increase harvestable stems.

Plant notes for Canadian farms:
Expect tidy plants around ~4–5 ft tall with strong, long stems that make harvesting and bunching a breeze. Wine Eyed Jill is often one of the earliest blooming dahlias on the farm, and many growers find it incredibly prolific, producing so many blooms that they practically carry a bouquet on their own. The colour palette is dynamic: early in the season you’ll see more cream and blush tones with wine centres, and as the weather cools the blooms may lean more peach, yellow, and deeper wine tones, adding seasonal interest and versatility. This variety is a standout for markets, weddings, and mixed bouquets where both soft pastels and strong contrast are welcome. Stake lightly in windy or exposed sites for best stem quality.
