Celebrating Mothers: A Tribute to Strength, Love, and Everything in Between

There are few roles in life as layered, profound, and beautifully demanding as motherhood. It’s a calling with no guidebook, no clock out time, and no blueprint, just a whole lot of heart, grit, and unwavering love. And while a single day will never be enough to honour the women who carry so much, Mother’s Day invites us to slow down, look around, and say the words we sometimes forget to: thank you.

What Mother’s Day Means to Me

I truly won the lottery when it comes to moms. She’s been my anchor. Steady, thoughtful, endlessly supportive. She never second, guessed my dreams, even when they seemed a little too bold. In fact, sometimes I secretly wished she would talk me out of them. But, she didn’t. She believed in me. From the very beginning, she trusted my judgment and taught me to trust it, too.

She’s also the reason Franklin & Co. Flower Farm exists.

My mom showed me, by example, that there are no limits. At the age of 36, she graduated high school while raising teenagers. That same year, she decided she wanted to play hockey, even though she didn't know how to skate. She was determined to figure that out. She signed up for lessons and, because of her age, was placed with the U-18 rep players. After an hour, the instructor gently redirected her to the group of five year-olds. And with total humility and a great sense of humour, she laced up with my aunt, and joined the kids, fully present, fully herself. One of her little teammates even invited her over to play video games (an invitation she graciously declined, laughing about what that child’s parents would have thought).

That’s the kind of woman my mom is: brave, grounded, joy filled, and endlessly generous.

She has always put everyone else first, her children, her grandchildren and my dad. She is love in action. She is strength in softness. She’s everything I aspire to be, and everything I am most thankful for.

The Many Faces of Motherhood

Motherhood doesn’t look the same for everyone. For some, it’s sleepless nights and sticky fingers. For others, it’s loving children they didn’t birth, but were chosen to love. It’s parenting through blended families, sharing in milestones, or walking beside children they never birthed.

It’s showing up for school concerts, signing permission slips, folding mountains of laundry, and being the first call when the world feels too heavy. It’s holding space, offering grace, and loving without condition.

And it’s hard. So hard. It stretches you, humbles you, and teaches you what it means to give from a place deeper than you knew existed. But within that challenge lives a love so fierce, so radiant, it changes everything.

Flowers and the Language of Love

At Franklin & Co. Flower Farm, flowers are our way of saying what words sometimes can’t. They’re how we mark milestones, honour memories, and share in each other’s joys. They help us pause. They let us feel. And on Mother’s Day, they become something more than a gift, they become a tribute.

When we wrap each bouquet in kraft paper and twine, we’re thinking about the mothers who’ve shaped our lives. The ones who cheered us on. Who steadied us when we faltered. Who were quietly there, even when no one else noticed. We hope each petal speaks to the heart that raised us.

To the Moms, With Love

If you’re a mom, here’s what I want you to know: You’re doing an incredible job. Even when it feels impossible. Even when the house is loud, the fridge is empty, and your patience is thin. You are doing better than you think.

And if Mother’s Day feels heavy, because your mom is no longer here, because you’re waiting for your turn, or because your story looks different than you imagined, we see you. We honour you.

To every mom, stepmom, grandma, mother figure, and caregiver, you are the heart of your home and the quiet hero behind so many stories.

This Mother‘s Day and every day, we celebrate you.
